Open to Interpretation

David’s image Angel Trumpet and Morning Glory has been published in Intimate Landscape, the second volume of Open to Interpretation, a new series of elegant books pairing fine photography with creative writing to explore how pictures, poetry and prose can inspire a multiplicity of interpretations from a single source.

Conceived by photographer and publisher Clare O’Neill as a two-part international competition, the images for each volume are first selected by an invited juror based on a specific theme.  A second juried process then takes place to select writers whose submissions respond to the individual chosen images.

The result is an engaging, elegant book that invites readers to enjoy the featured photographs, writings and their own imagination.

Juror Karen Irvine, Curator and Associate Director of the Museum of Contemporary Photography at Columbia College Chicago, selected Angel Trumpet and Morning Glory to be included in the book with 29 other photographs from 1500 submissions.
